Campbell Free Kindergarten: Colour Scheme
Part of the wider project to restore Auckland’s former Campbell Free Kindergarten building for future community use involved carrying out an analysis of historic paint layers and making recommendations for the reinstatement of the interiors as closely as possible to the original.
Historic photographs and evidence from the site (a good deal of which had been compromised by fire
and water damage) was used to formulate a series of recommendations which were presented to Auckland Council and the contractors in a series of colour boards which included sketches and paint samples.
These recommendations were then refined to form the basis of the final scheme and finishes specifications.
