This recognizable landmark building on the Kaikohe-Rawene road in Northland had been condemned when Salmond Reed Architects were engaged to prepare a Condition Assessment Report to scope the extent of remedial works required. Contract documentation soon followed for ~ structural strengthening of the bell tower, re-piling, re-roofing cedar shingle tower roof, re-roofing main metal roofs, re-construction of entry porch, re-making of front window, exterior paint stripping & re-painting. Funding the project was managed by Trust Investments Ltd and a contract signed with building contractor Wooding Construction Ltd for work to commence in 2003. The newly restored Aperahama Church was re-opened the following year.
