Built in 1867, and extended many times over the years, Eichardt’s Hotel is a landmark historic building on the Queenstown waterfront.  Following a major flood of Lake Wakatipu in 1999, the building was seriously damaged and required full restoration and refurbishment.

Eichardt's Hotel Refurbishment

Salmond Reed Architects assisted design architect Michael Wyatt Architects to stabilise and restore the heritage fabric so that the building could be refitted as a high quality private hotel.

With its new lease on life, Eichardt’s is now rated as one of the finest lake side resorts in the world, and is a testament to the attention to detail invested in the project during the refurbishment works.

The project received a NZIA National Award for Architecture.
