Stanley Bay Wharf Shed
|
The Stanley Bay Ferry Shelter replaces a familiar but decaying structure which was painted a rather remarkable shade of turquoise inside and out. The new shelter sets out to provide improved protection from the elements - especially for waiting ferry passengers - and to create an enclosed space without a sense of confinement. |
The new structure exactly replicated the envelope of the original building, but within this provides a sunny verandah on the eastern side for morning commuters and large windows for those waiting inside. The original turquoise has been reapplied to the interior to recall the original. |
